Another big infrastructure project which is underway in Lucknow is the construction of the Gomti Nagar railway station. The station will be ready by 2020 and will help in reducing the rush on Charbagh railway station and Lucknow Junction.
The station is currently used as a halt line because of the construction work and once ready it will have all the modern amenities. The work is divided into two phases. Phase one covers the station and nine platforms along with public amenities. Building more platforms is very important, in order to tackle the problem of train delays and train waiting on the outer for hours, due to less number of platforms. Construction of the Gomti Nagar station will surely help improve the situation.

The station is expected to cater to 50000 passengers daily and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 1800 crore. Once ready, 30 pairs of express and mail trains will originate from and terminate from the Gomti Nagar railway station.
